Dubai- In a groundbreaking development that signifies a monumental stride for Dubai’s infrastructure, the Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation PJSC (Empower), celebrated globally as the leading district cooling services provider, has secured its exclusive position as the primary district cooling services provider for Dubai International Airport. The triumphant acquisition of operational rights for the airport’s district cooling systems showcases Empower’s industry prowess, boasting an impressive total capacity of 110,000 refrigeration tons valued at an estimated AED 1.1 billion.

This historic announcement unfolded in the august presence of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, a distinguished figure serving as the President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline & Group, and the Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy. Underscoring the strategic collaboration between the government and private sectors in Dubai, this partnership was hailed as a pivotal catalyst for the city’s continuous growth and prosperity.

Empower’s burgeoning district cooling portfolio now proudly encompasses some of Dubai’s largest and most iconic projects, cementing its status as the world’s foremost district cooling services provider.

His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the esteemed Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Chairman of Empower, emphasized the paramount importance of collaboration between the government and private sectors in realizing Dubai’s ambitious aspirations and fostering sustainable development. He particularly commended Empower for its role in delivering environmentally friendly district cooling services, aligning seamlessly with Dubai’s commitment to environmental protection.

The resounding success of this strategic partnership was duly acknowledged by His Excellency Khalifa Al Zaffin, the Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation (DACC) and Dubai South. He expressed unwavering confidence in Empower’s capabilities, anticipating the seamless delivery of district cooling services that would mirror the world-class customer experience synonymous with Dubai Airports.

Celebrating this historic achievement, Empower’s CEO, His Excellency Ahmad bin Shafar, heralded a new chapter in the company’s legacy within the district cooling industry. Expressing immense pride in serving the world’s largest airport, he reiterated Empower’s steadfast commitment to delivering high-quality cooling services, boasting a substantial capacity of 110,000 refrigeration tons—an amount equivalent to 11 times the consumption of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest tower.

The inherent benefits of district cooling systems were highlighted, catering to both building tenants and owners. These advantages encompass enhanced comfort and safety, reliability in service delivery, lower capital investment, improved aesthetics by eliminating unsightly structures, energy efficiency through the adoption of scalable technologies, and a positive environmental impact, contributing to global efforts in sustainability.

In conclusion, the adoption of district cooling aligns seamlessly with the progressive goals of modern cities, offering a smart and sustainable solution that ensures not only efficiency but also a responsible approach towards environmental stewardship. Empower’s strategic acquisition at Dubai International Airport stands as a testament to the company’s commitment to global leadership and innovation in the district cooling sector.
