Bangladesh- Making significant advancements in technology and economic growth, Bangladesh is pushing forward with its Hi-Tech Park initiative under the guidance of the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA). This strategic move to enhance the IT and IT-Enabled Services (ITES) sectors reflects the government’s commitment to utilizing both public and private resources for national development. Emphasizing Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects, the initiative aims at fostering a conducive business environment for IT, ITES, Biotech, Telecommunication, Electronics, and R&D industries.

The flagship of this initiative, the Kaliakoir Hi-Tech Park in Gazipur, stands as a testament to Bangladesh’s ambition towards a digitally empowered economy, offering a sprawling 232 acres dedicated to innovation and business development. This project, along with others, represents a significant push to attract both domestic and foreign investments, thereby creating job opportunities and stimulating economic growth.

As Bangladesh positions itself on the global tech map, the Hi-Tech Park initiative is about more than just building infrastructure; it’s about creating opportunities, enhancing skills, and paving the way for a digital future. The initiative has seen the establishment of 28 Hi-Tech Parks, Software Technology Parks, and IT Training and Incubation Centers across the country. With several parks already operational and others in the pipeline, these facilities are spread across strategic locations, including the notable Kaliakoir Hi-Tech Park, which serves as the flagship. These parks are designed to support startups, established tech companies, and entrepreneurs, acting as hubs of creativity and innovation.

To date, these initiatives have attracted approximately Tk 570 crore in private investments, significantly contributing to the nation’s employment and economic development. The operational parks, including Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City in Gazipur, Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park in Jessore, and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Hi-Tech Park in Sylhet, serve as beacons of technological innovation and business opportunity, enhancing Bangladesh’s stature in the global technology arena.

Looking forward, the BHTPA’s vision extends to establishing Bangladesh as a global IT/Hi-Tech hub by fostering a skilled workforce, promoting innovation, and driving economic growth. With ambitious plans to train up to 150,000 individuals by 2041, the authority aims to equip the youth with the necessary skills for the digital era. These efforts, along with ongoing efforts to attract more investment, underscore a strong commitment to the initiative’s success and are pivotal in realizing the dream of a “Digital Bangladesh.”

As Bangladesh continues to develop these Hi-Tech Parks, it not only bolsters its technological infrastructure but also asserts itself as a key player in the global tech scene. This initiative highlights the power of innovation and public-private collaboration in achieving national development goals, making the Hi-Tech Park project a cornerstone of Bangladesh’s technological and economic future.
